- NHK WORLD PREMIUM is the channel for Japanese people living and travelling overseas, and most of the programming is provided in Japanese. In addition to NHK’s news and information programs, it broadcasts dramas, music programs, children's programs, sports programs, cultural programs, performing arts programs, etc.
- NHK WORLD PREMIUM programs are distributed around the clock to the same places as NHK WORLD TV, using the same satellites. The image signals are scrambled.

- In the North America and Europe Regions, NHK programs broadcast in Japanese can be accessed through the service provided by TV JAPAN.
- NHK transmits Japanese-language television broadcasts worldwide by utilizing parts of the NHK WORLD PREMIUM service and the TV JAPAN service.
