An experiment to relay high-definition 3-D images of a heart surgery by satellite took place in Japan on Saturday.
An organization of heart surgeons carried out the experiment to utilize high-definition 3-D technology for medical purposes.
Real-time images of a bypass surgery taking place in Yamato City, Kanagawa Prefecture were relayed by satellite to a forum being held in Kobe City, about 400 kilometers to the west.
At the venue of the forum, about 200 medical doctors wore special glasses to see the images shown on ten monitors.
High-definition 3-D images are accurate and vivid.
Broadcasting the images will allow people in remote locations to learn about sophisticated techniques like heart surgeries.
The broadcasts are expected to contribute to the training of doctors and improving medical skills in remote places.
